The Obsession = Writing = Writer = Deana Zhollis

(Dee-Anna Zol-liss)

Every writer is born with an obsession—a force that grips the pen and compels it to write. This obsession is the essence of every story, often hidden but always present. If you read closely, you’ll find it. Most people call it Passion.

For Deana Zhollis, this obsession began the moment she first watched the 1972 film Gargoyles (the same year she was born). From that point on, her imagination was consumed by romance and otherworldly Beings. Her storytelling journey started with dolls and paper dolls, progressed through folklore and fairy tales, and eventually led her to the realm of Science Fiction and Fantasy—long before she even understood what those genres meant! Enchanted by them, she dreamed of a perfect blend of dark worlds and fiery passion

She won her first writing award at the age of 12 and looked forward to many more accomplishments, attending the University of California, San Diego, majoring in Communication and minoring in Literature/Writing (a full Writing major was a bit too much for her! Ha!).

But after college, life took over, and she stopped writing—until “the calling” returned in 1998. She picked up her pen again, beginning her first novel, The Made which she completed in 2000. The novel went on to win first place at the Houston Writers Convention in 2001

With the help of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), Zhollis has since completed several more novels. She remains steadily writing a road of stories, taking each step slowly and steadily, in true Capricorn fashion!

Currently residing in Houston, Texas, Zhollis authors Romantica Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Her obsession with stories is her passion; her pen is the arrow of Cupid’s love; and her bite carries the sting of poisoned wishes for true love, and dreams, that inevitably come true.
